Why Change Does Not Last? Part 1 of 3

Part I - Theory & Cognition

The available theories today on change could choke forty elephants. Promises of a quick fix are abundant. Since the study of human transformation has been at the center of my life for well over two decades, I am qualified to warn you against being seduced by powerfully marketed programs that promise you quick change. These false promises have given the personal development field a suspicious reputation. Experienced and well trained facilitators and alternative therapists disclose to their clients and participants that transformation is layered.

Today even modern psychologists primarily work with cognitive behavioural therapy known as CBT. It uses brief intervention and then onto the medication. They work on issues or symptoms and not the cause of problems. The results are good but they do not last.

Another modality known as neuro-linguistic programing (NLP) is one of dozens of cognitive based work that ignore what is embodied. Various forms of group hype will also temporarily ignite someone’s faith.

WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO CHANGE?

Human behaviour is learned and modelled after others. Yes some of it is instinctive; however it is always based on unconscious drives and beliefs. They were put in place by conditioning from the environment (our families) and from intense overwhelming experiences that causes trauma.

Thoughts are generated by feelings that bubble up from the unconscious. They are often childish and immature. Our unconscious emotional turmoil or joy & happiness are generated from our bodies’ cellular memory and from its surrounding energy field.

Over time these beliefs and experiences create habits that are extremely tough to break. We become defended in both our identity and our character. We do this to protect ourselves from experiencing more pain, fear and doubt.

Accordingly, quick fix solution never, ever last because they cannot circumvent these deeply held patterns. You can take this to the bank. Avoid these theories & false promises like you would the plague.

So then, what critical cognitions (insights) should you take from this information? First and foremost that transformation is a process and not an event. And secondly, these processes are layered and must always include:

1)  your body & mind

2)  your soul

3)  your energy of life & consciousness ( awareness )

This is the comprehensive theory of transformation & lasting change that we are offering. The results we consistently achieve for people just like you will give you a new life & a fresh start. Interested? Please click here.

In Part II you will learn about our methods of process & transformation.

The Hero’s Journey

‘What happened to the male identity?’ Part 1 By Robert Kirby

Hey guys,

Have you observed how uncertain modern men are? The new generation of males seem to have confused open hearted vulnerability with passivity and uncertainty. How could this have happened? What do you think is the underlying trend?

I could speculate with a few observations. Men have not yet recovered from the feminist movement. This shift needed to happen. Modern women have truly taken their power back. They feel equal to males in many instances and continue to fight for their well-deserved rights. What women wanted was equality with men, for men to listen and become more vulnerable but not passive.

This response has left men in pain. We males have unfinished business with one another. Who are we? Where do we go from here? Perhaps you feel there is nothing to change. Today’s men are fine. Let it be. I know the only thing that is inevitable is change. Unless we become more aware and conscious and are willing to claim our lives then the next generation will have no role models. The peaceful warrior will have vanished.

I’m certain that the modern male’s uncertainty is not respected by women. They tell me this frequently. Women still respect a strong man with an open heart. Would it be possible today for men to talk about male issues without feeling threatened? Not in a pub or at the footy match but in a safe non-judgemental environment. Men need men to challenge and support masculinity, to take our power back and initiate passionate dialogue. We need to speak our truth and resolve our issues with both women and men.

I personally feel passionate about coaching men on their issues. I also desire for men to gather and really talk. Not just a whinging session but with profound transformational process. Can you feel how important this is? Look below for a life changing opportunity after the exercise.

Exercise

Close your eyes and see each circle, number and specific colour in your inner imagination. Slowly count backwards from 7-1 visioning each circle’s colour. When you get to 1 (violet) you have entered the alpha state.

Keeping your eyes closed, count backward from 21-1 and then ask yourself the following questions….

  1. Do you bounce your great ideas off others? Mother?
  2. Do you experience an inner calling or pulsation? Do you trust it?
  3. Do you avoid strong women?
  4. Do you feel men support each other with emotional issues and negative feelings?
  5. Do you feel lost? Like a runaway train of uncertainty?
  6. Are you certain of your destiny? Of your masculine sexual identity?

Write down your answers and read below.

Opportunity for Men

Early in my career I facilitated many workshops with men and they loved them and so did I. Sadly the men’s movement burnt out quickly and never matched the feminist movement. What women achieved was an absolute miracle. We males have a way to go to match this growth. Let’s get started this year before we get stuck into the holiday season.

In addition to your concerns this is what I envision for us:

-         Become stronger, more grounded and present in your sexual identity.

-         Let’s deal with our father issues and let go

-         Career, power and money issues

-         21st Century sexual issues

-         Reclaim the warrior within

-         Life after death

-         Sex vs. love making

-         How about my broken heart?

-         Leadership and change

-         Response to feminism

-         Are long term relationships worth the pain?

-         Finishing your mother stuff

-         What’s on your mind?
